Everything you need to get Flint paired with OBS Studio and clipping in minutes.
1. Enable OBS WebSocket
Tools → WebSocket Server Settings in OBS Studio. Note the port and password.
2. Scan the QR code
Pair your phone in one scan — or enter IP, port, and password manually.
3. Stay on the same network
Phone and PC must share a local network. No internet connection needed.
How do I connect Flint to OBS Studio?
In OBS Studio, open Tools → WebSocket Server Settings and enable the WebSocket server (note the port, default 4455, and your password). Then open Flint on your phone and scan the QR code shown in the Flint desktop companion, or enter your PC's local IP address, port, and password manually. Flint pairs over your local network only.
Where do I find the QR code for pairing?
The Flint desktop companion displays a pairing QR code on first launch and under Settings → Pair Mobile Device. Point your phone's camera (or Flint's built-in scanner) at it — the app fills in the IP, port, and password automatically.
Flint says my PC is unreachable. What do I check?
1) Make sure your phone and PC are on the same local network (same Wi-Fi, not guest Wi-Fi or cellular). 2) Confirm the OBS WebSocket server is enabled and OBS is running. 3) Check that your firewall allows inbound connections on the WebSocket port (default 4455). 4) Verify the local IP address of your PC hasn't changed — re-scan the QR code if it has.
Does Flint work over the internet or cellular?
No — by design, Flint only communicates over your local network via a direct WebSocket connection to your PC. This keeps latency near zero and your footage private. If you're away from your streaming PC, you can still review and edit clips already synced to your inbox.
My clips aren't appearing in the review inbox.
Make sure the OBS Replay Buffer is enabled and running (Settings → Output → Replay Buffer in OBS). Flint triggers buffer saves — if the buffer isn't active, nothing gets captured. Also check that your phone stayed connected to the WebSocket when the clip was triggered.
How does vertical reframing work?
When you open a clip in the review inbox, tap Reframe to place a 9:16 bounding box over your 16:9 footage. Drag to reposition and pinch to scale. Flint saves the crop with the clip so exports to TikTok or Shorts are already vertical.
Can I customize the live tags?
Yes. Flint ships with 😂 Funny, 🔥 Clutch, and 😱 Shock, and you can add your own tags with custom names and emoji under Settings → Tags in the mobile app.
